Little Victories

So an update on our little Miss Ais:
She is 3 months Old
&
She finally gained a whole pound (from her 2wk ck-up)!
9lbs 13 oz.

Poor little thing has been through quite the ordeal since she's been born. She is allergic to Dairy, Eggs, & Strawberries; or at least when I eat those and then nurse she would be very colicky, and would spit everything up, arching her back, screaming all night, break out in a rash on her cheeks and have really dry skin. So I had been trying to avoid eating foods with those things in them: which is very Hard! It pretty much rules out all desserts :( Just about all foods are made with eggs or dairy, it's crazy hard not to eat Chocolate too! She was born at 7lbs even. At her 2 wk check-up she was 7.13oz, and then by her 2 month ck-up she was only 8 lbs 6oz. So she hadn't gained a whole pound since her last ck-up. She was only in the 5th percentile for weight, which made me really start to worry. I had gone through the dairy allergy with my other two kids, but neither of them had trouble gaining weight, neither of them were this severe! She spits up a lot, and has really bad Acid Reflux.
So we started her on baby Zantac and started supplementing more with Soy Formula. The Dr. ordered an Ultrasound to be done to check her GI system and make sure her little tummy was ok, and to rule out Pyloric Stenosis (which is a muscle by the stomach that can get swollen and prevent food from leaving the stomach, so it ends up going back up. The Ultrasound showed that her muscle was a little swollen but not enough to alert or need surgery. It was really cool to see her ultrasound of her little stomach, to see the Pedialyte travel all the way down her and spin around in the stomach. She was so gassy they had a hard time getting a clear view, and so it took quite a long time, and Ais did so good laying on the table naked for such a long time, she was just smiling up at me the whole time! She is so sweet, even with all these troubles. So they put her on Prilosec drops to see if that would help better with her Reflux. Then when that didn't seem to help, she is now on these really expensive Prevacid dissolve tablets. At first they seemed to help a ton, and now she is back to spitting everything up again. We have moved to only Soy Formula and I have had to stop nursing, which in a way seems to be a relief and in a way, i am sad to be done already. She is a trooper though! With all this tummy trouble and pain, she still Smiles all the time!

She's so tiny!

She'll just have to be on the small side for quite awhile! They have us going in every 2 weeks for weight cks. This last ck was at her 3 months and she has finally gained a Whole Pound! She was 9.13!
Woohoo, finally 9 pounds!
Little Victories!

We love our tiny little peanut!

Well, at least you didn't have to deliver her at 9 lb 13oz. I was a fat-lardo rolly-polly and was born at 9 lb 13 oz.

Oh Jay, she is so darling. It's so hard to worry and worry about these sweet angels when they are so tiny. Thank goodness she's making progress. Hang in there and keep up the good work. Just another mom saving the day... day after day.
